DNR officer arrested on domestic violence charge
JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- A high-ranking state Department of Natural Resources official was arrested Sunday after authorities say he threatened and kicked his wife.
Alexander Chisolm Frampton, 47, is charged with criminal domestic violence.
He is listed as one of five DNR deputy directors on the agency's website. Frampton heads the agency's Law Enforcement Division, according to the website.
According to a report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to a home on Royal Oak Drive on Johns Island just before 2 p.m. There, Frampton's wife reported she and her husband had been arguing over her "spending habits" when he had "gone into a rage."
Frampton smashed a box his wife had been planning to give to charity and also broke a broom handle over his knee, telling his wife "he wanted to beat her," the report said.
Frampton also kicked his wife, deputies said in the report.
His wife ran to a neighbor's home and called for help.
