Dorchester coroner IDs inmate found hanged
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - The coroner's office in Dorchester County identified Thursday night the inmate who apparently hanged himself earlier in the day.
According to Coroner Chris Nesbit, 34-year-old Scott Kuykendall apparently hanged himself around 10 a.m. Thursday.
Kuykendall was being housed at the Dorchester County Detention Center in St. George for a parole violation. He had been an inmate at the jail since March 30, Nesbit said.
Kuykendall was reportedly found hanging. Officials at the jail took the inmate down and took him to a Colleton County emergency room where he was pronounced dead.
Nesbit said he would be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
