Driver charged in crash that injured woman on scooter

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A woman on a scooter was hospitalized after being hit by a van in North Charleston Tuesday afternoon.{}

According to police, the accident happened on Remount Road near Saxon Street.{}

Police say the woman was riding a Hoveround-type scooter and trying to cross the road when the driver of the van hit her. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.{}

The driver of the van was arrested and charged with driving under suspension, failure to yield right of way, and failure to surrender a suspended tag.{}

That person's name was also not released by police.
