Duo arrested, charged with North Charleston hotel robbery

      NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Police arrested two people and charged them with Tuesday's robbery of a North Charleston hotel.{}

      According to police,{}Marisa Jackson and Joshua Ekpunobi were arrested. During the investigation, police learned that Jackson, who is an employee of the hotel, set up and drove{}Ekpunobi to the crime, officials said.{}

      Jackson was charged with robbery and{}Ekpunobi was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

      According to the police report, a man with a mask covering his face entered the Clarion Hotel on Dorchester Road and demanded access to the safe.{}

      "Just chill, man. Give me the money and safe," he reportedly said.{}

      When the robber could not lift the safe, he used a bellman's cart to wheel the safe out the front door, the report states.{}

      A day later, police found{}Ekpunobi in the Appian Way Apartments. During a search of{}Ekpunobi's apartment, police found a large gray safe concealed with clothes.

      Jackson and{}Ekpunobi are expected to have bond hearings at 2 p.m. Thursday, police said.{}
