CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - From raising your own chickens to collecting rainwater, Charleston County parks are offering a series of programs to help people save money and help the environment.
The first program provides instruction on keeping chickens in your backyard and is scheduled for Saturday at James Island County Park.
The program deals with everything from preparing your yard to selecting your chickens and keeping them happy.
Five other programs are scheduled through the middle of next month. They include such topics as composting, building chicken coops, collecting rainwater and inexpensive ways to save money by making your house more energy efficient. All are being held at the park.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
