CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man and woman were arrested early Sunday morning and charged with arson after police say the two set fire to each other's personal property.
According to a police report, 40-year-old Yolanda Vanessa Bing called police to report that her ex-boyfriend had set fire to her bedroom. Officers reported being able to see the flames through the window and called firefighters, who quickly put out the fire.
Bing told police she and her ex-boyfriend, identified as Antonio President, had been fighting, during which she told him to leave or she would set fire to his shirt. President refused, so she reportedly doused the shirt with lighter fluid and set it ablaze.
To retaliate, Bing said PResident doused her bed in lighter fluid and set it on fire. Then he reportedly ran from the home.
Police estimate $15,000 worth of fire damage was done to the home and the adjacent apartment.
Because of their actions, Bing and President were charged with third-degree arson and booked in the Charleston County Detention Center.
Bond for Bing was set at $30,000. President's bond was set at $15,000.
