Family of 3 escapes house fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A family of three on Friday morning escaped a house fire on Annette Street in North Charleston. Their four dogs were also rescued.

According to fire officials, crews from Charleston and North Charleston arrived at the home shortly after 8 a.m. The first person to call in the fire said it appeared to start in the heating unit.

The first units at the scene reported seeing smoke and fire coming from the one-story home, fire officials said.

There have been no reported injuries.

The Red Cross is stepping in the help the family.
