Festivals finish up the weekend on James Island

JAMES ISLAND,S.C. (WCIV) - Paddleboats lined the water at James Island County Park and sandcastles lined the beach on Folly on Sunday as the East Coast Paddlesports andOutdoor Festival and Sean and Sand Festival wrapped up.

The festivaloffered a little something for everyone, whether it was canoe and kayakinstruction, archery, disc golf, or biking.

"Coming hereallows us to put a lot of consumers on the water, let them experience all typesof water crafts within paddle sports. It's probably more stuff here on thebeach than you can find on any one place in the Charleston or South CarolinaLowcountry area," said Ken Schill, the sales Southeast representative for severalcompanies.

On FollyBeach, thousands of people gathered for the 24th annual Folly Beach Sea andSand Festival Pageant.

The festivallasted all weekend and ended Sunday afternoon with a sand sculpture contest.

"We have acouple of different categories. There is a best overall; there is a best ofFolly theme; and there is a best family entry," said Vince Perna, this year's sandcastle commissioner. "We wanted to allow the kids to enjoy it as well as someof the guys that came out to build professional castles."

The winnerof the sand castle content won a four-night oceanfront stay on Folly Beach.{}{}
