NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston business was damaged by fire Sunday morning.
According to Fire Marshal Cindy Killette, crews were called to a structure fire on Spruill Avenue at the WD Tires building. The first crews at the scene said smoke and fire were visible from outside the building.
Within 20 minutes, Killette said the fire was out, but crews stayed at the scene to check for hot spots and for a salvage operation.
Witnesses described a loud boom before the fire started.
"I heard a loud explosion from across the street and I run outside and I see flames shooting out from the top of the roof," said Umer Dugan, who witnessed the fire.
Spruill Avenue and the rail line nearby was shut down as a precaution while firefighters worked in the area.
Killette said seven engines, three ladder trucks, and two rescue vehicles from North Charleston, Charleston and St. Andrews fire departments responded to the fire.
Officials said there were no injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
