Firefighter, another person injured in North Charleston fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A firefighter and a civilian were injured Tuesday night during a house fire in North Charleston.

According to North Charleston Fire Department officials, the fire on Hawthorne Drive displaced a family of three. The two injured people were treated and released by Charleston County EMS.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they found smoke and fire coming from the single-story home. Officials said everyone living in the home had already escaped.

Fire officials said it took 20 minutes to get the fire under control, however firefighters were still on the scene nearly three hours later investigating the cause od the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
