WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) - Firefighters{}finished putting out an early morning fire at a West Ashley apartment complex around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived, there was smoke and visible flames coming through the roof of the laundry and maintenance building.{}Firefighters say they believe a lightning strike started the fire.

Firefighters tried to enter the building, but had to vacate it because of structural concerns. There was also a reported explosion, which fire officials believed to be related to the products being stored in the maintenance shop.

Charleston Fire Department officials say they had the fire under control by 9 a.m. but were still working to put it out{}in the rainy weather conditions.

No injuries were sustained in the blaze, but firefighters say the building is completely lost.
