Investigators called in after West Ashley apartment fire

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Fire officials say crews could see smoke coming from an apartment off Orange Grove Road when they arrived just before 1 a.m. Friday.

The Charleston Fire Department and St. Andrews Fire Department responded to Georgetown Apartments and quickly evacuated other apartments in the building. A small fire in a second floor apartment was quickly extinguished, according to a Charleston Fire Department spokesperson. Damage was confined to one unit.

No injuries were reported. Investigators were on scene well into the morning.{}
