Firefighters respond to leak at North Charleston paper mill
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Firefighters responded Monday evening to the KapStone Paper and Packing Corporation in North Charleston.
According to officials, the fire started around 5:45 p.m. Monday and was contained in 15 minutes.
Officials said no one was injured and there was never a danger to the greater North Charleston community. Clean-up crews were moving into the building around 7:30 p.m.
Officials said the fire started after a leak occurred during routine maintenance.
A spokesperson for MeadWestvaco says employees returned to the south plant just before midnight. North plant employees returned hours earlier.
