WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A home left abandoned for at least six years was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning. Now investigators are calling the fire suspicious.
According to Charleston fire investigators, firefighters were called to the Dilway Street home around 3:30 a.m. and found the home was engulfed in flames. Officials described it as "almost a pile of rubble."
The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.
Officials say SCE&G crews confirmed that the house had not had power or gas running to it in several years. As a result, officials ruled the fire suspicious.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
