      Flynt endorses Sanford: He's 'sex pioneer of our time'

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Hustler publisher Larry Flynt endorsed former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford on Tuesday in his bid for the 1st District Congressional seat.

      The video endorsement put on YouTube defined Sanford as a "sex pioneer."

      "No one has done more to expose the sexual hypocrisy of traditional values in America today. He is the man of the hour the midnight hour," Flynt said {} "He has demonstrated by his words and deeds that traditional values are shameful and that he will not live by such rules. As the bible teaches us: 'Ye shall know them by their fruits.'"

      Flynt said Sanford's willingness to break apart his marriage in search of love with his mistress, Maria Belen Chapur, was an act of bravery that garnered Flynt's support.

      "His attack on sexual hypocrisy is the only issue in this campaign. It is what defines Mark Sanford. Placing sex at the top of the agenda, he continues his courageous fight, demanding forgiveness while brazenly hugging his mistress at campaign parties," he said.{}

      Sanford also picked up support of sorts from a website for people seeking affairs, AshleyMadison.com. A new billboard was put up this week outside of Columbia, S.C., says "Next time, use AshleyMadison.com to find your 'running mate.'"

      While Sanford may have secured support from the owner of Hustler and a website catering to people seeking extramarital affairs, the love of the national GOP remains out of his grasp after news broke that Sanford would be in court the day after the election, facing allegations that he trespassed on his ex-wife's property.

      Sanford said that was to spend time with one of his four sons he shares with Jenny Sanford. The two watched the Super Bowl, he said, and Jenny Sanford caught he as he walked out the back door of the home, using his cellphone as a flashlight.

      Flynt went on to call Sanford a liar, but added that the former governor gained his support by exposing a larger lie.

      "Despite his journey down this Appalachian Trail of deceit, I support him not for his character, but for exposing the hypocrisy of traditional values. The liar has exposed the greater lie," Flynt said.
