Folly 4th fireworks pushed back due to high tide

FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- High tide is forcing organizers for Folly beach's Fourth of July festivities to push back the start time of the fireworks display.

Officials announced Thursday that the fireworks would start at 10:30 p.m. on July 4.

"With the County Park under construction, the pier off limits for fireworks, beach erosion and high tide, our choices were limited. We either had to cancel the fireworks or do them later in the evening," said Fire Sgt. Kevin Berkel.

Staging for the display will begin at 5 p.m. on the beach at East 2nd Street and the public will not be allowed to enter the area.
