FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) - Starting this weekend, Folly Beach Public Safety officers will be increasing patrols on the streets and beaches as it gears up for the tourist season.
"As we get more people visiting the island, an increased presence by our department makes it safer for both tourists and residents," said Cpl. Ryland Reed, who helps coordinate the department's DUI enforcement. "We also want to remind folks there's no drinking of any alcoholic beverages on the beach."
Folly Beach officers also have access to a breathalyzer machine, which is one of only five in the county, officials said.
