Folly Road Overlay passes 3rd reading 5-4

Rezoning changes yellow parts between Grimball & Battery Island Dr to pink

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County Council voted in favor of amending the Neighborhood Preservation Area of the proposed Folly Road Corridor Overlay Zoning District Tuesday night.The area will now be zoned as Neighborhood Commercial. Previous readings had kept the area residential.That means instead of mostly private homes, the area from South Grimball Road to Battery Island Drive can now be home to small businesses as long as the buildings are smaller than your typical big-box store.County officials confirm that Rawl, Johnson, Summey, Pryor, and Darby voted in favor of rezoning to Neighborhood Commercial.
