Police: Folly Road Rite Aid robbed by frequent customer
JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Around 6 o'clock on Friday night, the Charleston Police Department responded to the Rite Aid at 325 Folly Road for a robbery.
Officials say the store was robbed by a white male suspect. The suspect passed a note advising that he had a gun and demanded pills but he never produced a handgun.
Charles Francis of the Charleston Police Department says the pharmacist turned over 453 pills of Diazepan, 56 pills of Chlordiazepoxide, 220 pills of Oxycontin, and 286 pills of Lorazepan to the suspect. The pharmacist knew the subject as a frequent customer at the pharmacy.
Police say the suspect, Thaddeus James Pokryfka, 33, of Palmer Creek Bend, was identified and arrested at his home at about 10:20 p.m. and charged with armed robbery.
Pokryfka will face a Judge in Bond Court Saturday morning.
