Former employee charged in November fire at office building

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It started with a burglar alarm at an office building and when police arrived, they reported smoke coming from the door.

Now, a former employee of a law firm that shared that building is charged with burglary in the second degree and arson in the third degree.

Charleston Police arrested 46-year-old Julie Eckert Thrush. According to CPD, she used to work at Manaker Law Firm.

The fire occurred around 11:30 p.m. on November 9 in the crawl space underthe building at 571 Folly Road, near the area of the only crawl space door.{}{}{} {}{}{}

Firefighters battled hot spots for at least three hours. Officials said there was heavy damage inside the building and stairwells were burned through.
