COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 14, 2012) - The University of South Carolina remained ranked in the Top 10 in both national polls released today. The Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1 SEC) are ranked ninth in this week's Associated Press poll and eighth in the USA Today/Coaches' poll.
The Gamecocks saw their school-record 10-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night in a 23-21 setback at LSU. The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 SEC) are ranked sixth in both polls this week.
The Gamecocks have been ranked among the nation's Top-10 teams according to the Associated Press in 10-straight polls dating back to last season. That extends their school record. The previous mark was seven, set during the 1984 campaign.
Alabama (6-0) received every first place vote in both polls. They are followed by Oregon (6-0) in both polls.
Carolina will travel to Gainesville this week to take on the Florida Gators (6-0, 5-0 SEC). Florida is ranked third in the AP poll and fourth in the Coaches' poll. It will be the third-straight Top-10 opponent for the Gamecocks. The game will be televised nationally on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth and Tracy Wolfson on the sidelines.
The first BCS Standings will be announced tonight.
