Georgetown man leads Charleston deputies on chase, report says

MCCLELLANVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Georgetown man was arrested Saturday evening after Charleston County deputies say he led them on a high-speed chase through McClellanville.

According to deputies, 34-year-old Travis Sentell Alston was charged with failure to stop for a blue light, driving under a suspended license, and with being an habitual offender.

The report states Alston was driving more than 20mph over the speed limit on Highway 17 near McClellanville when a deputy tried to stop him, but Austin ran, leading the deputy on a chase that ended at the intersection of Rutledge and Arthur Lawrence roads.

Then deputies say Alston ran into a neighborhood.

He was eventually found hiding in a home and taken into custody. Alston is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center on a $16,265 bond.
