CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The need is critical and the American Red Cross says it needs your help right now.
The South Carolina Blood Services Region says it is experiencing a critical shortage. It says donations for May and June have dropped to the lowest's levels for this time, in more than a dozen years.
All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient.
"I have seen first hand how blood transfusions can truly save lives," said Courtney K. Hopkins, the Medical Director for the South Carolina and Southern Blood Services Regions.
To donate, you must be 17, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. Just call 1-800-733-2767.
