Goose Creek Walmart evacuated for suspicious package

      GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Goose Creek police have given the all-clear after the Walmart on St. James Avenue was evacuated.

      Officials were investigating a suspicious package.

      Customers called the newsroom earlier in the morning to say police would not let them inside.

      Captain Jon Grainger with GCPD said officers were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. and advised that a box was seen in a shopping cart near the grocery entrance and that "ticking" sounds could be heard from within the box.{}

      Walmart management ordered the evacuation of employees and customers.{}

      The parking lot was cordoned off and the Charleston County Bomb Squad was on scene, and evaluated the situation.{}

      Fire and medical services from the City of Goose Creek Fire Department were notified and put on standby.

      Employees were let back in just before 10 a.m.
