Goose Creek's transfer QB out for season with torn ACL, MCL

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) - The Goose Creek Gators got some bad news this week. Their new quarterback is out for the season with a torn ACL and MCL.

According to head coach Chuck Reedy, Pedro Manigault tore his ACL and MCL during practice Wednesday. Reedy said there was no contact when the injury happened.

"He's putting up a good front. He's a great kid," Reedy said.

Manigault transferred to Goose Creek from West Ashley.

Manigault announced the season-ending injury on Twitter, saying "I'm done for season. Just praying college coaches don't give up on me."

Last year at West Ashley, Manigault put on a show for fans week after week, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and passing for more than 600 yards. West Ashley finished the season at 6-5.

Goose Creek was under investigation again this year by the state high school league after Manigault announced he was transferring. West Ashley filed a grievance with the league.
