Gunshot victim found at MUSC could be tied to North Charleston shooting call

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A gunshot victim at Medical University Hospital may be connected to a reported shooting in North Charleston, police say.

According to police, officers were sent shortly before 4 a.m. to the area of Peacock Avenue and Phyllis Street in response to a shooting. However, police did not find a victim.

They later found out a person suffering from a gunshot wound was dropped off at Medical University Hospital, officials said. According to police, the person had wounds to the cheek and elbow, but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say they are not certain the gunshot victim at MUSC is the person who was shot on Peacock Avenue. The person is still being treated and has not been interviewed by police officers.

The reported shooting is still under investigation.

This is the sixth weekend in a row there has been a shooting in the North Charleston area.
