HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley says Beaufort County is "doing everything right" to help develop the local economy.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that the governor spoke Monday to almost 800 people at a local chamber of commerce luncheon.
Haley mentioned the dredging of the Sea Pines Plantation yacht basin and the work to bring in JetBlue to the nearby Savannah, Ga., airport.
Haley says that JetBlue, which began daily nonstop flights to Boston and New York back in February, helps with efforts to expand transportation links to the state.
She said those flights, along with new Southwest Airlines to Charleston and Greenville, show CEOs around the nation that the state has direct air links to major cities.
