LADSON, S.C. (AP) - In a reversal of four years ago, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce is endorsing Republican Gov. Nikki Haley.
In 2010, the chamber endorsed Democratic State Sen. Vincent Sheheen who Haley again faces this fall in a rematch of the gubernatorial race.
During an appearance in Ladson with Haley, Mike Brenan, the past chairman of the chamber, said that four years ago Haley, then a state representative, had no track record.
But Brenan says Haley has now made it clear she is right on all the business issues important to the chamber. He added the endorsement was an easy choice.
Sheheen said in a release he wasn't surprised by the announcement and said it reflects a trend in chamber decision making favoring big, out-of-state corporations over small business.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press.
