COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley's campaign says she raised more than $1 million in the last quarter and has nearly $4.5 million cash available to spend in her re-election bid.
Haley's campaign said Thursday the Republican governor raised more money in the quarter ending July 1 than any other since taking office in January 2011.
Campaign spokesman Rob Godfrey says fundraisers in the three-month period included five held outside South Carolina.
Haley's campaign announced the two numbers ahead of actually filing her quarterly report. Candidates are supposed to file their financial disclosures online by midnight Thursday. Her Democratic challenger, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, also had not done so by Thursday afternoon.
As of April 1, Sheheen had $1.7 million cash on hand.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
