Hanahan man wins $125K, but won't tempt fate with another ticket buy

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - A Hanahan man told the South CarolinaLottery Commission that he's bought his last lottery ticket after winning$125,000 on a $5 scratch-off ticket this week.

"I've been playing forever," said the husband, who said his patiencewas rewarded on a Giant JumboBucks ticket he bought at the Circle K on Meeting Street in downtown Charlestonon his way home from work.

The odds of him winning that prize were close to 1 in amillion, according to the lottery commission.{}

"When it happened, I called my wife and asked her if she wassitting down," the husband said.{} "She thought I was lying when I told herthat I'd won."

When he showed his wife the scratch-off with the words"JUMBO" and "$25,000" printed five times on the ticket, she did the math andknew $125,000 was theirs.

The lucky couple went out to dinner to celebrate theunexpected surprise. Now they'll pay off their debts.

There is one more $125,000 winning ticket for the GiantJumbo Bucks game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores #5124 inCharleston received a commission of $1,250.
