Heavy rain closes roads for second time in two days

CHARLESTON (WCIV)--Several city streets were closed or underwater again after heavy rain fell across parts of the lowcountry this evening.

The rain started in earnest just after 8 o'clock, dropping more than 6 inches of rain at the Mount Pleasant regional airport.

The crosstown was said to be collecting water, but was still passable.

Several downtown streets were also closed, including{}intersections of America and Reid, Concord and Hazel, Market Street, and Ashley and Bennett.

The threat for flooding will continue overnight, so pay close attention to road conditions before heading out in the morning.
