Helping Hands gets holiday help from high schoolers
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Students at Goose Creek High made a huge donation to help those less fortunate this holiday season: over 12,000 pounds of help.Students, faculty and staff collected 12,040 pounds of food for Helping Hands of Goose Creek. The donation was made Thursday morning.Principal Jimmy Huskey has been at the school for a quarter of a century and he says the students never cease to amaze him."They care so much about their community. It's a tight knit group," he said. "They care about their school and they care about helping other people. I'm just so proud of them and so excited to be associated with our students here."Huskey says the food will be able to get Helping Hands through Christmas and it took a team effort to get it all together."We got great staff members, we have competitions," said Huskey. "Cafeteria members get involved. We have community businesses help us out, and it's just an exciting time that everybody's pulling together to help out those individuals less fortunate than themselves."
