Police: Motorcyclist critically injured in Highway 17 crash
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A portion of Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant was blocked as officials investigated an accident with injuries early Thursday. Dispatchers said the motorcycle crash happened near the Long Point Road intersection around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. They say injuries were reported at the scene. Mount Pleasant Police tweeted at 4:30 a.m. that the highway was still blocked at that intersection. By 5:15 a.m. officials tweeted that all lanes had reopened.The motorcyclist has been identified by police as 19-year-old Cody Ramsey. They report he was heading north when his bike struck the curb and ran off the road. Thy also confirm he was wearing a helmet but sustained critical injuries.Stay with ABC News 4 for more on this developing story.
