CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- At least 26 people have died on South Carolina roads since the start of the new year.
Four of those deaths were motorcyclists who were not wearing helmets on Lowcountry highways.
"We remind everyone to be cautious regardless of the weather or where you're going because you need to abide by the rules of the road and wear a helmet," said Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres.
Officials said with warmer weather coming, more people will be on the roadways and they are asking that you always use common sense when it comes to safety.
