HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Hilton Head Island has hired its first economic development director.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head (http://bit.ly/1A5iIIE) reports that Don Kirkman, of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, will lead the Hilton Head Island Economic Development Corporation beginning next month.
Kirkman has worked in economic development in both Florida and North Carolina for 20 years and currently runs a consulting firm in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Kirkman will work to lure companies to the resort island by overseeing a marketing campaign and making economic scouting trips. He was selected from 65 people who applied for the job.
