NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Veterans looking for work looked no further than the Hiring Our Heroes job fair event on Wednesday.
The event was held at the General Mark W. Clark National Guard Armory at 7220 Cross County Road in North Charleston from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The job fair is hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and includes 50 employers ready to hire. Event organizers say jobs are open for veterans and their military spouses from all ranks and levels of experience.
Companies range from America's biggest employers to dozens of small companies from the Lowcountry.
The event is free and also includes an educational workshop with one-on-one mentoring sessions on resume building, job search tools, and interviewing techniques for all job-seekers.
"We bring workshop transition teams to the events where we have the opportunity to teach and to transition out of the military lifestyle to the civilian lifestyle, said event organizer Ernie Lombardi of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
"We've helped well over 225,000 thousand people nationwide in 650 events," he said.
Lombardi said jobs in hospitality, education, manufacturing, IT, Veteran Affairs, and South Carolina Works will be available at Wednesday's event.
"What we are trying to do is put the right veteran with the right employer," Lombardi said.
