NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Atlantic Center is now under new leadership.

On Thursday Captain Mark Glover was sworn in at a change of command ceremony at Joint Base Charleston-Naval Weapons Station.

Glover is coming to Charleston from San Diego, and will relieve Captain Bruce Urbon who served as commanding officer since 2008.

"It is certainly big shoes to fill. Bruce has been a wonderful commander of this organization, and he has done a great job helping prepare me to step into that job," said Glover.

Urbon will now report to the Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems in Washington D.C.

Captain Glover is originally from Walterboro and is the eighth commanding officer at SSC Atlantic.

"This is the highlight of my career. I've been in the Navy for 25 years now, come through the ranks to have the opportunity to take over such a great command is overwhelming," said Glover. "My family is very happy I am here. It is really great to come back home after so many years of being away. It is not only the professional satisfaction but the personal satisfaction, being so close to home."
