Horse killed in Adams Run hit-and-run

ADAMS RUN, S.C. (WCIV) -- A horse and his rider were struck by a pick-up truck and now Charleston County deputies are looking for the driver who left the scene.

Charleston County deputies responded to Hwy 174 near Dawhoo Road Monday. CCSO spokesperson Jim Brady said the rider was thrown from the horse after impact and the vehicle, believed to be a pick up truck, fled the scene.

Brady says the rider sustained non-life threatening injuries but the horse died on the scene.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office traffic squad is investigating the accident and anyone who may have witnessed or has information regarding the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
