Hotels targeted by robbers Labor Day weekend

{}NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston Police are investigating two robberies that happened at two different hotels over the holiday weekend.The first occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday at the Red Roof Inn on Northwoods Boulevard.According to an incident report, a black male came into the store wearing a clown mask and a light blue hoodie. The clerk said he had his hand in the hoodie pocket and pointed{} it at her as if he had a gun.She told police he demanded money and took $100 before leaving.The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and was reportedly seen driving a dark colored Jeep.The second robbery happened at the La Quinta Inn off of Rivers Avenue just after 2 a.m. Monday.The victim told police he was hanging out in front of the rooms when the suspect approached him demanding money. The victim said no and that's when he says the suspect lifted his shirt and showed him a semi automatic handgun inside his waist band.The victim said he handed over $40 and as the suspect ran away, the victim and his brother chased him and saw him get into a blue Mercury Grand Marquis.The men followed the suspect in their own vehicle until the victim said the suspect got out of his car and began shooting at him and his brother. The bullets hit the victim's car, disabling it.The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male with a stocky build. Witnesses said he was wearing a white shirt, jeans, a black hat, and a small amount of facial hair.If anyone knows anything about this or any other crime, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.We will update this story when more information becomes available.
