COLLETON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Colleton County Fire and Rescue crews responded to a home on David Street Sunday morning and found three-quarters of the home was already in flames.
According to fire officials, the roof of the brick veneer home has collapsed and the house was destroyed by 6:30 a.m.
Crews extinguished the fire quickly, stopping it at the kitchen and living room but the rest of the home was a total loss. Thankfully, crews determined that no one was inside of the home and later learned the owner was out of town.
Officials with the Colleton County FD say the investigation has found the cause to be "suspicious in nature" and SLED's arson unit was called out to the scene. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is also assisting.
