Jack's Cosmic Dogs featured on Alton Brown podcast

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Jack Hurley of locally known Jack's Cosmic Dogs fame will appear on a future Alton Browncast podcast with TV Host Alton Brown.

Brown recently appeared in North Charleston on his first-ever multimedia variety show road trip billed as Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour, when he asked Hurley to join him and discuss his food business.

Hurley joins a parade of internationally known stars of the kitchen interviewed by Brown on his podcast including Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Donatella Arpaia. In his podcasts, Brown reviews recent food news, chats with celebrities about their culinary passions, takes calls from listeners and basically does "whatever he flipping wants for 45 minutes."

Jack's Cosmic Dogs was featured once before by Alton Brown in his Food Channel TV show The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Said Brown "If I were on my death bed, I could eat two, maybe three, Cosmic Dogs."

Brown met Hurley several years ago during his first unannounced visit to Jack's Cosmic Dogs.

"He thought Jack's was so creative and it just caught him off guard. He's a quirky guy and we just get along," said Hurley. "He's always been easy to talk with and we connect in so many ways."

For instance, Hurley opened one of his more famous, eclectic restaurants, The Daily Planet, in Burlington, Vt. and Brown trained at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vt.

The exact schedule for airing Brown's podcast with Hurley is not yet finalized.

"We banged around the whole business thing of Jack's," said Hurley. "Jack's is simple food, and Alton likes simple food. But any business is never quite as simple as it looks."
