James Island Connector Run to close bridge Saturday

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- If you're planning on traveling over the James Island Connector Saturday morning, you'll need to change your route. It will be closed to traffic for the 15th Annual James Island Connector Run.

The closure will last from 8:15 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Residents will have to use an alternative route to get on and off the island.

The race, which includes a 10K and 5K walk/run as well as a 10K bike ride, will start and finish at Cannon Park downtown. The top five male and female finishers for the 10K and 5K Run will receive cash awards.

All proceeds from the event will fund scholarships through the Gavalas-Kolanko Foundation which helps students with disabilities go to college.

A post-run party (including food, water, beer, and live music) is scheduled to be held in Cannon Park.{}
