Woman charged in fatal Berkeley County crash

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - Highway Patrol investigators charged a woman in connection to a crash that killed a Jamestown man and injured four others.{}

Jamie Shuler was charged with DUI after the accident on French Santee Road near Jamestown Saturday evening. She was also charged with an open container violation.

According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, 67-year-old James Shuler died in the crash. Salisbury said Shuler was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He died from injuries he sustained in the crash, the coroner said.

Salisbury says James Shuler was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Four other people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Highway Patrol investigated the crash; it has been ruled accidental.
