COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's former first lady Jenny Sanford has endorsed Meka Childs in the crowded eight-way Republican race for superintendent of education.
The ex-wife and former campaign manager of former Gov. Mark Sanford says Childs recognizes the importance of market-based reforms and school choice in education.
Childs has also received the backing of House Speaker Pro Tempore Jay Lucas of Darlington and current Education Superintendent Mick Zais who Childs worked under as deputy superintendent.
