CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A joint law enforcement team formed in 2010 to investigate a string of Lowcountry restaurant robberies announced two arrests on Tuesday.
Christopher Donnell Simmons, 31, and Raynard Christopher Eady, 28, have been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of two cash advance offices in the tri-county area.
But, as of 6 p.m. on Tuesday officials with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were unable to confirm that the two are also suspects in the Asian restaurant robberies. While SLED did share that the two will be looked at as persons of interest in other robberies, officials were unable to provide specifics.
Simmons was arrested and charged with a February 18 armed robbery and kidnapping at the Cash Advance on N. Frazier Street in Georgetown. Officials say that a warrant states Simmons forced a store employee from the front of the store to the bathroom before robbing the business.
Eady was arrested and charged in a January 31 robbery of US Money Shops on South Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. Investigators say Eady held two individuals at gunpoint while removing approximately $2,200.
SLED announced the formation of the Joint Enforcement Team on December 16, 2010.
