CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCV) -- A man accused of beating his 2-year-old to death, tossing him in a trash can and filling it with concrete will have his day in court.

The clerk of court in Berkeley County has confirmed that the case against Roger Williams is scheduled to go to trial this week.

On July 6, 2010, 2-year-old Rodricus Williams was reported missing along the battery. The report prompted a city-wide search for the toddler. The next day, police say Grace Trotman, the boy's father's girlfriend, led them to Rodricus' body.

Investigators were eventually led to Orangeburg County where officers discovered the concrete-filled trash can, Williams inside, behind a vacant mobile home.

Trotman along with Roger Williams, the toddler's father, were arrested and charged with homicide.

Grace Trotman pleaded guilty to homicide by child abuse and desecration of a body in February.

Roger Williams bonded out of jail in Charleston County on April 6.

A jury was selected Monday, and opening statements are scheduled to begin tomorrow at 9 a.m.
