NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Jury selection has started in the murder trial of two men accused of killing a pizza delivery driver during an armed robbery.

Stephawn Sherrod Brown, 19, and 18-year-old Jontae Davis are charged with the March 2012 murder of 20-year-old Maraleius Birdsong.

Police say Brown shot Birdsong in the head as the victim{}was delivering a pizza to the Appian Way Apartments in Dorchester County. Police say Birdsong, who worked for Domino's Pizza, arrived at apartment #920 to deliver a pizza to "Tre."

According to court records, when he arrived the occupant of the apartment stated that no order for food was placed but "a person named 'Tre' lived at a nearby apartment." When Birdsong returned to his car, police say Brown shot him once in the head. Birdsong was rushed to Medical University Hospital{}where he died from his injury.

Witnesses saw two black men flee the area after the gunfire was heard. Officers later found Stephawn Sherrod Brown, the first to be taken into police custody, near the scene of the crime.

Davis turned himself in to police a couple of days later.
