Kangaroo Express targeted in armed robbery

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Cops are trying to get to the bottom of an early morning armed robbery in North Charleston.

Dispatchers confirm an investigation into the robbery at Kangaroo Express on University Boulevard is underway.

Several police units were on scene for well over an hour, gathering information and speaking with people inside the store.

According to a North Charleston police spokesperson, officers met with the clerk who said a light skinned black male came in the store and demanded money.

The{}clerk told police he thought the subject had something in his hand but wasn't sure if it was a gun or not. The clerk said he opened the register and the suspect reached in and grabbed the money before leaving the store.

The suspect was last seen going around the rear of the store, next to the trash dumpsters. He is described as being about 30 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white shoes,
