CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Schools all over the Palmetto State will be taking part in South Carolina's second Walk to School Day Wednesday.
The goal is to teach kids about health, exercise and safe walking habits while relieving traffic congestion. It's part of the national Safe Routes to School movement, and South Carolina has its own online resource center for information on how to participate.
Drivers are asked to keep an eye out for more kids than usual on the streets and sidewalks in their neighborhoods.
There is also a National Bike to School Day, which will be held on Wednesday, May 8.
