KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) - Kiawah Island is already on the map for its pristine beaches and renowned golf courses. While it tracks visitors from all over the world, the Kiawah Island Golf Resort wants the Charleston community to know they are welcome to enjoy the amenities.
"We are a destination resort, people come from all over the world and country to come here, but we also feel that we are a great option and opportunity for people in the in the Charleston community," President Roger Warren said.
Warren says with the Sanctuary, a luxurious seaside mansion hotel with its offering of spa services, recreation activities and fine dining restaurants there are endless options available to the public.
"I think there's this perception of Kiawah and the resort as something as almost untouchable. It's out there. Once you come to this island it's a place that will draw you back and we are welcoming to people to do that," he said.
Business for the resort is strong, especially since the PGA Championship.
"Since 2009 when the entire resort industry went through a downturn, we have grown back significantly every year to the point our business levels right now in 2013 will exceed the highest levels we ever had in the history of the resort," Warren said.
Warren says everyone takes pride in the quality service the resort provides and has sustained. He says people realize the value.
"People recognize that and today from 2009 to 2013 people have committed to places like ours because they feel they are getting value for their dollar," he said.
The resort offers several restaurants including Lowcountry cuisine at Jasmine's Porch and a steak house and sushi room at the Ocean Room.
Reservations are requested for the restaurants and amenities.
